Remedial massage

Remedial Massage otherwise known as deep tissue massage focuses on the deep layers of muscles and often involves firm pressure to individual muscle fibres.

Using deep muscle compression and friction along the muscle fibres, the purpose of this type of massage is to release both toxins and deeply held tension points in the muscles.

During this type of massage the therapist will work within your pain limits.  Kim may focus pressure on a muscle and direct you to move that muscle in order to lengthen it.  This is known as Active Release Technique and is employed to release muscular congestion. It helps to loosen muscles, release toxins and other metabolic end products and to improve blood and oxygen circulation.  It is beneficial for many physical problems, including sports injuries and chronic pain.

The benefits of Remedial Massage include:

  • Increased blood supply to muscle tissue
  • Increased range of movement and flexibility
  • Assists in the removal of waste from muscles
  • Decrease stress
  • Decrease tightness and pain
  • Reduce scar tissue formation
